Philip Wiegard
Opening: 16 May 2025, 7 PM
From 2025 to 2027, Dortmunder Kunstverein will host a laboratory for practical and intercultural knowledge transfer, focused on crafts. In a Kids’ Factory workshop, Philip Wiegard will collaborate with a group of children to create a custom wallpaper design using the Herrnhut paste paper technique. This striking pattern will be the rhythmic backdrop for a diverse programming in collaboration with local partners. It will transform the laboratory into a hub for sharing skills while learning about diverse cultural identities
Philip Wiegard (*1977, lives in Berlin) is a visual artist and works with sculpture, photography, FIMO and painting. He studied at UdK Berlin and Hunter College New York. His work has been exhibited worldwide, often in combination with workshops, including at: Galerie Crone, Vienna (2024), HKW, Berlin (2021); Between Bridges, Berlin and Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (both 2018).
The project is funded as part of the Creative.Quarters Ruhr program by the Ministry of Culture and Science & ecce – European Center for Creative Economy, as well as by the Wilo Foundation and the Cultural Office of Dortmund.
