Philip Wiegard
Wendy vs Tinkerbell
2025-2027
Opening: 16 May 2025, 7 PM
Wendy vs Tinkerbell is a newly commissioned bar and workshop space by Philip Wiegard at Dortmunder Kunstverein. Between 2025 and 2027, it serves as a laboratory for practical and intercultural knowledge exchange, centered around arts and crafts. Philip Wiegard developed two custom wallpaper designs using a baroque paste paper technique, Herrnhuter Kleisterpapier. During his 2025 Easter break workshop Kids’ Factory , the wall papers were co-produced by local children who received an hourly payment for their work.
The resulting patterns are named after two female characters from the Peter Pan story - Wendy and Tinkerbell - whose contrasting personalities stage a playful tension between the rational and the magical, the solid and the fluid. Until 2027, the space will host a diverse programme of music events and workshops in collaboration with local partners, transforming the space into a hub for aesthetic practices, physical experience and sharing skills.
Philip Wiegard (*1977, lives in Berlin) is a visual artist and works with sculpture, photography, FIMO and painting. He studied at UdK Berlin and Hunter College New York. His work has been exhibited worldwide, often in combination with workshops, including at: Galerie Crone, Vienna (2024), HKW, Berlin (2021); Between Bridges, Berlin and Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona (both 2018).
Cooperation Partners 2025
ATELIER AMORE e.V.
Atelier Amore was founded in 2018 in Dortmund as an association and collective of friends working across various disciplines and fields. The focus lies on close exchange, shared growth, and the realization of diverse event formats such as exhibitions, workshops, and happenings. For the Kunstverein, they are curating the music series Escorting Sounds – DJ sets in dialogue with art.
REKORDER / TONBANDE e.V.
