Renata Lucas (born 1971 in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil) is one of Brazil's most influential contemporary artists and is known for her precise, conceptually sophisticated interventions in architectural and urban spaces. In her artistic practice, she explores how built environments—whether urban, institutional, or domestic—structure our perception, behavior, and social interactions. Through subtle interventions in existing structures, her work encourages us to question seemingly stable boundaries between inside and outside, public and private, and ownership and use. Her exhibition in Dortmund is a site-specific, participatory installation that intertwines the exhibition space with the public sphere.
