P-A-N-T-S-D-O-W-N
Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann, Nicola Gördes, Stella Rossié & Paul Spengemann
29 July – 9 September 2018
With P-A-N-T-S-D-O-W-N the Dortmunder Kunstverein is transformed into a strange parallel world: It shows itself desolate in a state between assembly and dismantlement, the exhibition business seems to be discontinued. But in the twilight it rattles and roars. A few insightful spots in the disguised glass façade reveal a secret view of the mysterious scenes inside: a peepshow of rampant objects has come to life and transmits hidden messages with the aid of an occult technique.
Upon the invitation of Oriane Durand and Linda Schröer Nicola Gördes (*1987, Lennestadt), Stella Rossié (*1989, Bochum), Paul Spengemann (*1987, Henstedt-Ulzburg) and Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann (*1990, Friesoythe) developed a joint installation for the first time, fusing their artistic media of performance, sculpture, video art, and film. The artists play with formats of entertainment culture in different ways, drawing on elements of pop and trash.
NOTE: The reception of the exhibition is explicitly planned from the outside over the large window front of the Kunstverein and is possible from dusk to dawn. Meanwhile, the Kunstverein remains closed.
