What's missing from the maps of our present? What qualities does a space need to make the future conceivable? What do we want to preserve, change, or enable? – Mapping as an artistic and research practice. A keynote address on artistic mapping practices in art and research will present maps as open and experimental formats that go beyond orientation and documentation, using selected examples. In a discussion, examples of mapping from Hamawaki's artistic practice will be presented, followed by the collaborative development of a collective map of spaces of possibility that connects individual perspectives with collective visions of the future.

Kanade Hamawaki studied Fine Arts at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. As artistic media, Hamawaki uses site-specific and participatory installations, mapping, and artist's books. Within these frameworks, process-oriented constellations unfold, aiming at situational perception and collective experience.

Nicole Kostezki studied art history in Düsseldorf and Paris. Her research focuses on cartographic practices in contemporary art and their potential to rethink territorial orders, borders, and spaces. She is currently developing a doctoral project at the University of Cologne.

Wendy vs Tinkerbell is a project within the Kreativ.Quartiere Ruhr program, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and implemented by the Regionalverband Ruhr.
