Strategies to Overcome Automatic Thinking with Debora Ando

Urban space—as a place, but also as a dynamic, constantly changing network of relationships, forms of belonging, and interactions. The artist questions the perception and interpretation of urban space. The concept of "border" is examined here as a constitutive element that shapes both the formation of the individual and that of society, addressing everyday subjective experiences as well as the physical dimension of boundaries. Following the presentation of her publication, there will be a panel discussion with photographer Jens Sundheim, author Ersa Canpalat, and cultural studies scholar Sarah Hübscher, as well as a workshop in which participants will reflect together on the topic of boundaries in urban spaces. 

Debora Ando (born 1977 in São Paulo, Brazil) questions the perception and interpretation of urban space not only as a place, but also as a dynamic, constantly changing structure of relationships and interactions. This conscious appropriation of a highly regulated and functionally oriented system opens up a critical examination of norms and routines.
