The themed weekend Show and Tell marks a highlight in the annual program of Wendy vs Tinkerbell, the bar and workshop space at Dortmunder Kunstverein. With exciting guests and open workshops, it brings together theory and practice in a variety of formats and invites collective exchange: on processes of making, authorship, and structures of solidarity.

Association of Tamil Artists: Flower Garlands
By learning various techniques of garland-making, participants gain insights into a vibrant Tamil tradition and its cultural significance.
5 PM LECTURE
Thomas Weil: Who is Afraid of Ornament?
Thomas Weil is an architect, artist, and curator. In his book New Grammar of Ornament (2021), he proposes an open system for classifying ornamental forms, highlighting their aesthetic, cultural, and resistant potential.

The Small – Does Art Have a Minimum Size?
The small is political: Social change demands a reassessment of the relationship between scale, impact, and value in contemporary art.

Zainab Lax
Dortmund-based harpist Zainab Lax fuses Western and Eastern musical traditions in her compositions. Her meditative soundscapes are created through live looping and improvisation.

11 AM – 2 PM WORKSHOP
Philip Wiegard: Slime
This workshop revives nearly forgotten formats and techniques of the late 2010s internet-based slime trend, exploring the artistic potential of slime as a processual, time-based medium.
3–6 PM WORKSHOP
VKII Ruhrbezirk: Mosaic
Mosaic is an art form that dates back to antiquity and continues to thrive across cultures today. Participants will explore its design possibilities and create their own small mosaic work.
ABOUT WENDY VS TINKERBELL
Wendy vs Tinkerbell is a bar and workshop space by artist Philip Wiegard at Dortmunder Kunstverein. From 2025 to 2027, it functions as a laboratory for practical and intercultural knowledge exchange, with a particular focus on craft and aesthetic practice.
Wendy vs Tinkerbell is a project as part of the Kreativ.Quartiere Ruhr program, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and implemented by ecce - european centre for creative economy GmbH.
