Dr Daniel Kofahl: Where Overabundance of Pleasure Meets a Lack of Asceticism – A Lecture on Cornucopia Sociology
The Land of Milk and Honey is rich in everything that promises pleasure, and one can live there free from all worries and hardships. However, for humans, it is an ambivalent place or a paradoxical state if one considers the socio-cultural expiry date of the lifestyle possible there.
Dr. Daniel Kofahl, a scholar of food culture, leads the Office for Agricultural Policy and Food Culture (APEK) and is the spokesperson for the Culinary Ethnology Working Group of the German Society for Social and Cultural Anthropology. He conducts research on cultural studies questions of food and the sociology of the culinary.
