HODA TAWAKOL

Silent Voices in a Palm Grove

25 March – 11 June 2023

Egyptian-French artist Hoda Tawakol (*1968 in London, lives in Hamburg) works with sculpture, painting and drawing. Her works oscillate between sensuality and brutality and deal with questions about the body and identity. Often referencing specific cultural practices from Northern Africa, her works take into account fluid states of gender, the ambiguity of language or symbols and create an awareness of the relationship of gaze between people as well as between a person and an object.
