As part of his Moon Bar intervention at Kunstverein Hannover, Pablo Schlumberger (*1990 in Aachen, lives and works in Düsseldorf) painted a series of spherical opal glass lamps with Dionysian drinking scenes. The illuminated globe, resembling a moon-like object, becomes a projection surface for shadowy, merry motifs that evoke excess, delirium, and the fine line between joy of life and abyss. These motifs, in their sketch-like expression, reference art historical genre depictions of drinking parties. Schlumberger productively incorporates existing objects as readymades into his work, merging image carriers and functional objects. His work was part of the exhibition Schlaraffenland.
