The time-based work shelly by Josephine Scheuer is an encounter that becomes visible only in the reflection of light. It engages with the choreography of the space and is simultaneously fleeting. Installed at eye level, the inscription transforms into a character waiting on the wall in the hallway to briefly glow as one passes by. Like small tentacles, the letters cling to the viewer’s gaze, only to disappear again in the shadow of the reflection. Her work was part of the exhibition Schlaraffenland.
Josephine Scheuer (*1993, Merzig, Saar, lives in Rome and Düsseldorf) studied Photography (B.A.) at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and Performance and Spatial Concepts at HfG Offenbach. She is currently studying in the class of Prof. Rita McBride at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 2023, she received the AUFTAKT grant from the Kunststiftung NRW.
