As part of his Moon Bar intervention at Kunstverein Hannover, Pablo Schlumberger(*1990 in Aachen, lives and works in Düsseldorf) painted a series of spherical opal glass lamps with Dionysian drinking scenes. The illuminated globe, resembling a moon-like object, becomes a projection surface for shadowy, merry motifs that evoke excess, delirium, and the fine line between joy of life and abyss. These motifs, in their sketch-like expression, reference art historical genre depictions of drinking parties. Schlumberger productively incorporates existing objects as readymades into his work, merging image carriers and functional objects. His work was part of the exhibition Schlaraffenland.

Pablo Schlumberger (*1990 in Aachen, lives and works in Düsseldorf) studied at the HfbK Hamburg, earning his B.A. in 2016 with Prof. Werner Büttner and Prof. Jutta Koether, and his M.A. in 2018 with Prof. Andreas Slominski. His interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, painting, installation, and media art. Recent solo projects include Kennen Sie Köln? Ne, meine Braut ist die See., Drawing Room Hamburg (2021), and Merry May, Galerie Genscher, Hamburg (2019). In 2022, he received the National Young Artist Fellowship of the Kunstverein Hannover.
