Through a playful approach to the world-constituting properties of language, Lee Nevo reinterprets habits of using and viewing objects: „Display“ in German means both indication (in the sense of displaying a time) and presentation surface (in the sense of a pedestal, for example). Her clock, which she asserts as a table object through sculptural intervention (hanging or laying), becomes a time-sensitive pedestal for a contemporary vanitas object suitable for everyday use. The places where the cigarette butts are deposited adapt to the movement of the clock hands and their light breeze creates a meditative pattern in the ash. The artist and the buyer create the artwork together, within a drag on a cigarette.
