Nils Alix-Tabeling's works draw on a symbol-rich visual vocabulary of science fiction, fashion, history, furniture, shamanism and witchcraft. With a pinch of camp and humor, Nils Alix-Tabeling addresses social grievances and exceptional psychological situations.

The baseball cap in police green shows two copulating fire beetles, borrowed from a picture shown in the exhibition But Who is Ulrike Mandrake? On closer inspection, the backs of the beetles, called gendarmes in French, form the word "Police".
